The Hindu yogis have always paid great attention to the science of breath, for reasons that will be apparent to the student who listens to this audiobook. Many Western writers have touched upon this phase of the yogi teachings, but we believe it has been reserved for the author of this work to give the Western student, in concise form and simple language, the underlying principles of the yogi science of breath, together with many of the favorite yogi breathing exercises and methods. We have given the Western idea as well as the Oriental, showing how one dovetails into the other. We have used the ordinary English terms, almost entirely, avoiding the Sanscrit terms, which are confusing to the average Western person. The first part of the audiobook is devoted to the physical phase of the science of breath; then the psychic and mental sides are considered, and finally, the spiritual side is touched upon. We may be pardoned if we express ourselves as pleased with our success in condensing so much yogi lore into such little space and by the use of words and terms that may be understood by anyone. Our only fear is that its very simplicity may cause some to pass it by as unworthy of attention, while they pass on their way searching for something "deep", mysterious, and not understandable. However, the Western mind is eminently practical, and we know it is only a matter of a short time before it will recognize the practicability of this work. We greet our students with our most profound saalam and bid them be seated for their first lesson in the yogi science of breath. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Arthur Rowan. In his most challenging journey to date, Palin tackles the Himalayas, the greatest mountain range on earth. It is a virtually unbroken wall of rock stretching 1,800 miles from the borders of Afghanistan to south-west China. Penetrated but never conquered, it remains the world's most majestic natural barrier, a magnificent wilderness that shapes the history and politics of Asia to this day. Having previously risen to the challenge of seas, poles, and deserts, the highest mountains in the world were a natural target for Michael Palin. In a journey rarely, if ever, attempted before, in 6 months of hard traveling Palin takes on the full length of the Himalaya including the Khyber Pass, the hidden valleys of the Hindu Kush, ancient cities like Peshawar and Lahore, the mighty peaks of K2, Annapurna, and Everest, the bleak and barren plateau of Tibet, the gorges of the Yangtze, the tribal lands of the Indo-Burmese border, and the vast Brahmaputra delta in Bangladesh. He also passes through political flashpoints including Pakistan's remote north-west frontier, terrorist-torn Kashmir, and the mountains of Nagaland. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Michael Palin. Throughout history it has been an important trade route between Central Asia and South Asia and a strategic military location. The summit of the Khyber Pass is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) inside Pakistan at Landi Kotal and it cuts through the northeastern part of the Safed Koh mountains which themselves are a far southeastern extension of the Hindu Kush range.

Saf d K h or Spin Ghar, also known as the Saf d Mountain Range or Morga Range, is a mountain range on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, up to 4,761 m (15,620 ft) above sea-level at Mount Sikaram, straight and rigid, towering above all surrounding hills. Except for a narrow trough cut by the K bul River, which breaks through the mountains to flow eastward into the Indus River, the range connects directly with the Shand r offshoot of the Hindu Kush mountain system. A spur of the range is crossed by the Khyber Pass. The lower slopes are nearly barren, pine and deodar formerly grew on the main range, but devastation during the Afghan civil war reduced timber resources. The valleys support some agriculture.

The Wakhjir Pass is a mountain pass in the Hindu Kush or Pamirs at the eastern end of the Wakhan Corridor, the only pass between Afghanistan and China. It links Wakhan in Afghanistan with the Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County in Xinjiang, China, at an altitude of 4,923 m. The border has the sharpest official change of clocks of any international frontier (UTC+4:30 in Afghanistan to UTC+8, China Standard Time, in China). There is no road across the pass. On the Afghan side the nearest road is a rough road to Sarhad-e Wakhan (also known as Sarhad-e Broghil), about 100 km from the pass by paths. On the Chinese side there is a jeep track about 15 km from the pass, which leads to the Karakoram Highway 80 km away. The pass is closed for at least five months a year and is open irregularly for the remainder.

Wakhan River (Persian: Ab-i-Wakhan, Tajik: Wakhandarya) is the name of the Sarhad branch of the Panj River along its upper length, in Afghanistan. The river arises out of the Hindu Kush, southwest of the Wakhijrui Pass. It then flows roughly 30 miles without being joined by any tributaries. Here the river has a very broad bed, almost a mile broad at points, and is fordable at all times. Little if any vegetation but dwarf willow grows in this region. Then, near Bozai Gumbaz, it is joined by the Little Pamir branch of the river.

The Yasin Valley( ) , Tehsil Yasin or Babaye-i-Yasen ( ) or Worshigum ( ) is a high mountain valley in the Hindu Kush mountains, in the northwest region of Gilgit in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Yasin is separated from the Ishkoman Valley by a high mountain pass. To reach Yasin one must take the Karakoram Highway north from Islamabad, and then turn left to reach Gupis in Ghizar. After Gupis, one continues northwest to reach the Yasin Valley. Yasin was originally ruled by the Khushwakhte Dynasty, a collateral line of the Katur Dynasty of Chitral. The Rajas of Yasin were great warriors and fought against the Sikhs and the Dogras of Kashmir, but this house eventually lost power and the ownership of Yasin changed hands several times between the rule of the Mehtar of Chitral, and the Maharaja of Kashmir.
Heart-pounding real-life tales from the military's most experienced snipers, the best of the best snipers in action today. Gunfights, long distance shots, stalking, and more. From the peaks of Afghanistan's Hindu Kush to the subtropical marshes of south central Iraq, American snipers have braved heart-pounding situations to hit their human targets dead-on. Few military feats stir the imagination like the image of a pair of riflemen waiting quietly in a building, in a bomb crater or a mountain pass for the enemy to walk into their crosshairs. 'Sniper' comprises real-life tales from the military's front line snipers, their hits and their misses, the anguish of loss and the anxiety of the first kill. Authors Gina Cavallaro and Matt Larsen provide riveting accounts of Soldiers and Marine scout snipers on the battlefield, take a rare look at how Rangers and Special Forces snipers train and operate and why the war on terror has changed the role of military snipers.
